2026 MES Workshop
Georgia Institute of Technology | August 13-14, 2026
Abstract submissions are open through March 1, 2026
The fourth Macro-Energy Systems (MES) Workshop will be held August 13-14, 2026 at the Georgia Institute of Technology! If you are interested in presenting your MES-relevant research, please see below for information on submitting an abstract. All abstracts must be submitted by March 1, 2026. Decisions on abstracts will be made and communicated by April 1, 2026. MES Workshops provide an intimate venue for participants to receive feedback on their work, learn about cutting-edge macro-energy system research, and foster new collaborations. If interested, please see the agendas and outcomes from the Workshops held in 2024, 2022, and 2020. The 2026 MES Workshop will feature multiple poster and lightning talk sessions, keynote speakers, and other MES community activities. We hope to see you there!
Macro-Energy Systems is an emergent field and research community that focuses on large-scale, systems-level, long-term aspects of energy systems and their implications for other systems, including the environment, economy, and human wellbeing. Sustainability, equity concerns, and computational advances have fueled a growing area of study with an increasingly rich set of tools and questions. Until now, this work has been scattered across many research communities. Macro-Energy Systems unites these efforts within a common field to foster better research, collaboration, education, and policy-making. Please visit the MES website for more information or watch this brief video for an overview of MES.
Submission Instructions
Please submit your abstract using the form to the right.
The abstract should be no more than 350 words and include the following:
1) Motivation. Why is this an interesting and important problem?
2) Fit with Macro-Energy Systems.
3) Methods and results. Results may be preliminary or prospective.
If your abstract is accepted, you will be expected to present a poster, and may also be selected to provide a five-minute lightning talk.
IMPORTANT: Submit your abstract as a PDF in the format “Lastname_Firstname”. Please do not include any identifying information in the text of the PDF. The abstracts will be judged blindly. Following these guidelines will ensure anonymity and fairness for all submissions. Failure to comply could result in the automatic withdrawal of your submission.
